Coach Davey Smith graduated from Canton High School in 2001. He went to college at Southwestern and then came back to Canton. His degree is Bachelor of Science in Education. He began his coaching career here in 2007. This year was one of his favorites. Colby Hagler was a junior, and they had an amazing season. Coach Smith’s favorite game was that season when Canton beat Ringwood.

Coach Smith has always loved Star Wars. His classroom is covered with posters and figurines from the different movies. Coach Smith said, ‘’My favorite character is Darth Vader, because he is angry.’’

His favorite meal from the cafeteria is Mexican chicken casserole. If Coach Smith had to eat one food for the rest of his life it would be cheeseburgers. Another one of his favorite things is Metallica. He loves all of their songs.

Coach Smith loves OU football. He says they are his favorite team because he was a fan in the dark ages.  Dallas is his favorite NFL team. He likes the Cowboys because Barry Switzer coached them to a Super Bowl

This year Coach Smith is the assistant coach to Andy Claborn. Coach Smith goes to every after school practice and does whatever he can for his players. He is proud of his players and is also looking forward to future seasons. “I have a high opinion of this year’s  team. They are young and inexperienced but athletic and hard workers.’’

Coach Smith has spent ten years coaching for our school and our team. He is dedicated to his players and Canton honored to have him on the sideline.
