For the first time since 2006, Canton Public Schools has a music program, directed by Alison Clark. Clark is teaching classes in both the high school and elementary schools.

In the elementary, the students learn how to play certain instruments. The students have learned how to play instruments such as, the glockenspiel, the marimba, the xylophone, ect.

Alison Clark teaches jr/senior high school students the art of music and how to appreciate music. Not only does she teach about the history of music, but she also teaches how to sing, how a musician acts, and even helps to find the vocal ranges of the students.

I’m a little nervous, but I think it’ll be fun. I think we will be really good if nobody has a breakdown

The jr/senior high school students have been practicing the Star Spangled Banner and will be performing at the football/basketball games.

“I’m really excited for our students and community to have a choir program again,” Adam Mcphail, high school principal, said, “A healthy choir program needs at least 10% of the student population, we have 20%.”
