Fifth and Sixth Grade Play First Games

Elementary boys take a breather during the first half.

November 1, 2021, marked the first game of the fifth and sixth grade basketball season at the Okeene tournament. The boys played Seiling while the girls played Alva. The games were split into two halves of fifteen minutes.

The Seiling boys got the tip and went down the court to shoot for two points and they made it. Canton then got the ball and scored. At the end of the first half, it was with Seiling 20, Canton 3.

Canton scored right after the second half started. As the second half progressed we continued to score. The game ended with a score of 35-18  Seiling.

To start off the girls’ game, Alva girls got the tip and continued to shoot and score two points. Alva had 11 points with four minutes left in the half when Canton scored two points. At the end of the half, it was 11-2 with Alva winning.

To start off the second half, Briley Scott had the ball and shot and was fouled on her way up, so she got to shoot free throws. She made one of the two shots. Bailey Grigsby scored a three and was fouled, but did not make her free throws. At the end of the second half, the score was 20-8 Alva.

The tournament continues today with the girls playing at 1:00  and the boys at 2:00.
