Friday the sophomore class went on the NWTC tour to learn about all of the different classes they have. After they finished going to all the classes they got to choose two classes to spend 20 minutes learning more about them.

I chose the cosmetology class and health careers class. In the cosmetology class I learned that there are four rooms that have different things to learn. They have rooms for styling hair, nails, facials, and book work. There are days that the students get to practice what they learned that week on each other or on themselves and there are days that they just do book work. Even though there is a lot of book work they still have a lot of fun in the class. To complete the class there are 1,500 hours that are needed.

In the health careers class I learned how to find my pulse and I learned about how the heart works. In that class I got to see a deer heart and hold it. The amount of hours needed for the class depends on what career you want to have. The needed hours to the different careers are 501 hours to be a Nursing Assistant, 960 hours to be a Therapy Technician, 525 hours to be a Phlebotomist, 960 hours to be an Advanced Nursing Assistant, and 525 hours to be a Veterinary Assistant.
