Drug Testing for Athletes

Drug usage has become a major problem in the world, especially in schools. Some schools randomly drug test athletes, students involved in extracurricular activities, and bus drivers. Other schools only drug test their athletes once at the beginning of the year, which in effect, allows them to use drugs during sports.

Schools need to be more strict on drug testing for every student and teacher in both junior high and high schools by having random tests more than once a year. Drugs kill more than 50,000 teens per year. Drug usage in the United States usually starts around age 12, or younger. Most teens who use drugs at a young age drop out and end up living on the streets begging for more money.

If a student tests positive for drugs, he or she should have a counselor during school hours. If they keep testing positive, then they should go to a rehabilitation center. If schools started doing this, then students would be able to have a better life and a better future.
