How Will History Remember the 2010s

The 2010s were a wild decade, so much stuff has happened, but what will be remembered? Will it be remembered like the 1980s with big hair, shoulder pads and the fall of the Berlin Wall?

The 2010s could be remembered for technological advancements. Yes, there were phones before the 2010s, but that decade saw the technology advance and become an even bigger part of the lives of kids and adults. We got to witness the phones grow more and more commonplace until basically everyone has one, even little kids despite how it may be bad for them.

Will they remember the 2016 presidential election and the “scandals” that came with it? It was a very close election. At one point it was Clinton 64.9 million, to Trump’s 62.5 million, and many thought Clinton was going to win, only to wake up the next morning to President-Elect Trump.

In the first month of 2010, an earthquake struck and killed 200,000 to 250,000, and affected 3 million. The Hurricanes of 2012 unleashed record-setting gales and storm surges killing more than 230 people and causing some $70 billion in damages.  Who could forget about Hurricane Michael? It became the first Category 5 hurricane to hit the contiguous United States since 1992, causing more than 50 deaths and $25 billion in damages.

Be it technology, elections, or storms, the 2010s are without a doubt a memorable decade.
