The Nail Experience

The+Nail+Experience

I went to get my nails done on Saturday and I’m not going to lie. It was amazing. Everything from walking into the building to seeing the end product, the whole experience is just immaculate.

So it started with me booking an appointment for Star Nails in Enid to go get my nails done because I didn’t think they took walk-ins. After a bit of driving and jamming, I arrived and walked in. Peering in I noticed it was really busy which kind of made me nervous, but I went ahead and entered the building.

I was greeted by the nice desk lady who quickly would sit me down at a nail tech’s booth so my nails could be removed because I thought the nails were dip and not acrylics, but apparently, they were acrylics so I was moved to a different nail tech’s desk, which was really embarrassing because how do I not know the kind of nails I got? Then again the people who did them previously had heavy accents and I had never got them done before, so there could have easily been a miscommunication.

The nail tech would begin working on my nails starting by filing off the paint and then kind of fixing the previous work by adding more powder and smoothing out the nail. He also made the nail extend from the bottom so it fits over my real nail again. I had to wash my hands with no soap after he did the powder so he could start on the actual nail art.

One of my biggest problems with getting my nails done is I cannot relax at all. The look my nail techs give me when I don’t relax my fingers is very scary, they just kind of slowly look up and say, “relax”, or the last place the woman would look up and just say ‘loosen’, which was both very scary and kind of funny.

After he finished all of that I showed him the picture of the nails I want, and he quickly got to work. Before long they were finished, and nothing feels better about getting your nails done than seeing the end product, the confidence I get, how much gender euphoria I feel. I totally recommend this experience.
